Anies to set up directorate for teachers

ulture and Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Anies Baswedan says he will set up a directorate general specifically to handle problems related to teachers in the country.
'So all affairs involving teachers from kindergarten and elementary school to secondary school will first be assessed by this [directorate general],' Anies said as quoted by tribunnews,com.
Anies said he had engaged in talks with the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry regarding the plan.
Anies said that when the structure of the new directorate general had been established he would get President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo to approve it.
Anies previously said that teachers held the key to quality education and he would roll out a number of initiatives to help resolve problems affecting teachers.
During an event to observe National Teacher's Day, Anies said he would set a minimum wage for contract teachers nationwide. (***)
