here is no sign yet that floods that have been taking place in Bungo regency, Jambi, over the past two weeks will subside; instead the floods are predicted to last longer because of a further increase in rainfall.
It is feared that the floods in Bungo regency will engulf public and educational facilities, besides homes.
'Dozens of schools are at risk of being swamped by floods. They are located in Bathin III Ulu and Muarobungo city,' Bungo Education Office head Hasrizal said on Wednesday.
Hasrizal added that schools listed as prone to floods were those located in Rantau Pandan district, such as the SMPN 2 state junior high school, SMAN 1 senior high school, Rantau Pandan elementary school and a number of schools in Tenam, Tanah Belaki and Lubuk Niur. (***)
