Govt has three candidates for Pertamina boss

T

he government says that the selection process to pick state-run oil and gas company PT Pertamina'€™s new president director is approaching the final stage with three candidates remaining.

'€œAt this stage, we have three candidates left in the selection process. Their names have been sent to the TPA [Final Assessment Team],'€ State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini M. Soemarno said in Jakarta on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com, adding that the ministry had worked with consultants such as PT Daya Dimensi Indonesia (DDI) and PT PPM Management to conduct the assessment process to choose the best candidates.

The TPA members included President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo, Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto, and officials from the Finance Ministry, State Owned Enterprises Ministry and Energy and the Mineral Resources Ministry.

Rini, however, declined to provide any information about the candidates including whether any of the candidates currently worked for Pertamina.

She only said that the new Pertamina president director would be someone who had the best managerial skills and was able to improve Pertamina'€™s competitiveness among global companies.

'€œHe or she should be someone who has a strong integrity and can lead a company well. He or she should also be clean; not a corrupt official,'€ she added.

The minister expects to announce the new president director of the most bankable state-run firm not later than Nov.30. (nfo)(+++)
