The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) and the rupiah interbank trade rate in Jakarta on Friday morning opened on a negative note.
The JCI weakened by 0.13 percent to 5,137 and the rupiah depreciated by 12 basis points to Rp 12,196 per US dollar by 9 a.m on Friday, Antara news agency reported.
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) data showed that 78 stocks strengthened while 61 stocks weakened and 70 stocks remained unchanged.
Shares in only two out of 10 sectors traded on the IDX recorded improvements during the first trading session. Shares in the construction sector rose by 0.34 percent followed by finance which saw a rise of 0.22 percent. (nfo)
