he Central Java administration has crowned DiengPlateau in Banjarnegara regency as the province's best tourist site for 2014,selecting it over dozens of others, including the world-famous BorobudurTemple.
Head of Banjarnegara Tourism Agency, Aziz Ahmad, said the regency administration had for the last five years been successfully marketing Dieng's combination of natural beauty and cultural richness.
Today, Dieng is popular for the traditional tangled hair-cutting ritual.
'The ritual this year was held two months ago, attracting at least 25,000 foreign and domestic tourists,' Azis said on Thursday.
The ritual, which has been passed down by many generations, is held in the beautiful temples peppering the Dieng hills.
