AKARTA: Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama is one of the hardest-working men in the capital, but the governor of Jakarta never forgets that he's a husband, too.
Ahok skipped out of City Hall around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday for an important off-site meeting: his wife Veronica Tan's 39th birthday party.
'Pak [Ahok] went directly to TS 7 to celebrate the birthday of Ibu [Veronica],' a member of the governor's security detail said, referring to Ahok's residence at Taman Suropati 7 in Menteng, Central Jakarta.
A photo of the party on social media showed Ahok and Veronica cutting into a celebratory tumpeng rice cone.
Ahok returned to work around 1:15 p.m., ready for his next task: inaugurating Veronica as the chairwoman of the steering committee of the Jakarta Family Welfare Movement.
