Comments: Fewer working hours for women?

D

strong>Dec. 14, p1

There is still time for one of the country'€™s top figures in gender affairs to step in and prevent the reduction of working hours for women '€” an idea likely to constitute a setback for gender fairness in the country.

Fortunately, Women'€™s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Yohana Yembise'€™s reaction to the idea '€” first put forward by Vice President Jusuf Kalla '€” is a breath of fresh air.

Your comments:

The idea of reducing women'€™s working hours is a huge step back not only for women in today'€™s workplace but also a de-motivating picture of the future for our daughters who have dreams and passions to pursue as individuals.

What'€™s next? Perhaps limiting certain positions in companies for women because they are too challenging or time consuming for them?

Hopefully, our leaders will find other reasonable ways to educate our future generations instead of playing around with this irrelevant gender issue.
