he Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has predicted that starting Monday, there will be an increased likelihood of heavy rain in the city after the intermittent rain of the past week.
'The next seven days will see a greater possibility of medium to heavy rain in the southern parts of Jakarta and medium rain in western parts of the city,' BMKG head, Mulyono Rahadi Prabowo said as quoted on Saturday by kompas.com.
The rains will mostly occur from noon until the early evening but the intensity of the rain will pick up from the end of December, when rains could last from noon until nightfall, perhaps even into the next day, Mulyono went on.
This does not mean that the next seven days will see heavy rain every day. Mulyono said that it could happen that there were two dry days in a row but when it rained, it would pour.
Mulyono said the agency predicted that the peak rainy season would be at the end of December and would ease by the end of January. (***)
