State-owned telecommunications company PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) will take the lead in the government's Rp 278 trillion (US$22.4 billion) broadband project over the next five years to boost Internet access in Indonesia, a senior official has said. 'I'm in the position to support Telkom taking a lead on this broadband plan,' Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara told Reuters.
Your comments:
When the government does things that should be done by the private sector, that's called socialism. Socialism is why countries like the US and Venezuela and Europe and Indonesia and India are either bankrupt or severely repressed economically with millions in poverty.
If you want to help poor people, end socialism; free the people and the economy from government interference, government corruption and crony capitalism.

Thumbs up for the proposed expansion program for telecommunications to move the sector forward over the next five years. Yes, we still remain behind our neighbor Singapore in this context but it's better late than never.
As we all know, the Telkom conglomerate has been making stunning profits year after year, and for all its profitable years the people as a nation gave it all the support it possibly needed. As a mature company, Telecom has won prizes in the region as well as abroad.
Certainly, we, as citizens, are proud of these achievements, but Telkom needs to look into suggestions and complaints raised by subscribers and not turn a deaf ear.
