ive new Toyota Camry hybrid sedans allocated for five Jakarta Council leaders have arrived at the council building in Central Jakarta, the council secretary confirmed on Monday.
The cars, tagged at Rp 698 million (US$53,700) each, will be given to speaker Prasetyo Edi Marsudi and four deputies: Muhammad Taufik, Abraham Lunggana, Triwisaksana and Ferrial Sofyan.
Council secretary Mangara Pardede said as quoted by beritajakarta.com that in line with regulations, the type of car for the council leaders was chosen by the Jakarta administration. The cars will be used during the councilors' five-year tenures before being returned to the city administration to be auctioned.
Each of the remaining 101 councilors, who were inaugurated in August, will receive a Toyota Corolla Altis. All cars were purchased using city funds. (***)
