Your letters: A duck that may rescue flood victims

R

ecently, Bandung regency was seriously affected by flooding caused by heavy rains.

Bandung and its surroundings are known for their natural beauty and serve as a popular tourist destination for people from Jakarta and elsewhere.

The newspapers and TV channels beamed images and videos of how streets were flooded and people had to walk through waist-high waters.

A similar story is expected to repeat itself in Jakarta in coming days. Meanwhile in Malaysia, helicopters are deployed to rescue flood victims.

The vehicle, the DUKW, which serves as a truck on land and a boat in the water, is used for tourism in Singapore and in many other world cities. The DUKW was originally used by the US military in World War II.

The DUKW was used for the transportation of military forces and weapons, over land and water.

It becomes a truck on lands and a boat on water. It is now used to show the marine life of coastal and harbor areas.

This technology could be used to rescue Indonesians and expats trapped in flood waters.

It can be a tourist attraction on normal days and can be used as a rescuer in floods, which are common in the island country of Indonesia.

The government could consider it to anticipate future flooding in the capital.
