Johan Budi has handed in his resignation letter as spokesperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
'I handed in my resignation letter today,' Johan said in Jakarta on Monday as quoted by Antara news agency.
Johan began working at the KPK in 2005; he was part of the Education and Public Service Directorate until 2009, after which he was appointed as the head of the Public Relations Bureau and also as KPK spokesperson.
'Due to the current situation at the KPK and also my position as prevention unit deputy, I handed in my resignation as the KPK spokesperson,' he said. Johan was appointed the deputy of the antigraft body's prevention unit on Oct. 17 last year.
The KPK's board of chairmen has yet to respond to Johan's resignation as spokesperson. The position has been temporarily taken over by the board.
This is not the first time Johan has resigned from the post. He wanted to resign back in July 2011 when he was accused of being party to a case of corruption by former Democratic Party treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin. (***)
