he National Narcotics Agency (BNN) says that it will destroy 840 kilograms of shabu-shabu (methamphetamine) seized from international drug dealers on Jan. 5, 2015.
The confiscated drugs were worth Rp 2 trillion (US$160 million) and were apparently the biggest catch in all of Southeast Asia.
'We will destroy the drugs on Tuesday [Jan. 27] at Soekarno Hatta International Airport's Terminal 3,' BNN spokesman Comr. Sr. Sumirat Dwiyanto told The Jakarta Post in Jakarta on Monday.
Sumirat said his institution picked Terminal 3 because it had a bigger garbage plant in comparison with Terminal 1 and 2, big enough to destroy the drugs.
The 840 kilograms of methamphetamine were seized by BNN from a suspect identified as WCP, a Chinese national who was wanted in seven countries: Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, China, the US, Myanmar and Indonesia.
WCP was arrested with nine other drug smugglers, including five other foreigners, in a raid at a shopping mall in Kalideres, West Jakarta. (nfo)(+++)
