ndonesian go-karting race driver M. Senna Noor finished second behind Malaysia's Melvin Wog in the DD2 class of the Rotax Invitational Race 2015 in Sepang, Malaysia, on Sunday.
Senna was the only driver from the Kratingdaeng Riser Shadaff team to make it to the podium. Teammate Barrichello Noor, 14, was only able to finish 13th in the junior class while Sergio Noor, 8, who competes in the comer and micromax classes, had to retire after sustaining an injury to his left knee during a pre-final session. Sergio was rushed to hospital immediately.
In the Rotax senior class, Indonesian driver David Sitanala from Maluku outpaced two other Indonesian drivers, Julio Proost and Silvano, to take the top podium position.
Race director James Leong of Malaysia praised the consistency of Indonesian drivers during the race. 'I'm impressed with their spirit. They have unyielding attitudes and have strong determination to be the best,' he said in a statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Sunday. (***)
