Publicly listed diversified group PT Astra International (ASII) recorded a 6.17-percent decline in its car sales throughout 2014.
ASII only sold 614,169 units of cars last year, down from 654,558 units sold in the previous year, kontan.co.id reported on Wednesday.
However, the company saw a 7.44-percent rise in the sales of motorcycles in 2014 with 5.05 million units, up from 4.7 million units recorded in 2013.
Despite the fall in car sales and the one-digit growth in motorcycle sales, it remained in control of the lion's share of the nation's automotive market.
ASII holds a 50.84-percent and 64.2-percent market share in cars and motorcycles, respectively. (nfo)(++++)
