n Australian man has been arrested on Batu Bolong Beach in North Kuta, Bali, for possessing marijuana. He was arrested with an Indonesian driver as they shared a marijuana joint on the beach.
Australian Nicholas James Langan, 25, and Indonesian Hanung Pekik Hirmantoro, 25, were caught early on Tuesday morning while smoking one marijuana joint. 'We have named both NJL and HPH suspects,' said North Kuta Police chief Adj. Comr. Ronny Riantoko Eppang, who refused to give the full name of either suspect.
Ronny said that the Australian had confessed he was an active drug user. 'He told the investigator that the use of a small amount of marijuana is allowed in Australia,' he said.
The arrest took place based on a report from security officials who witnessed the two sharing what they alleged was marijuana. When police arrived at the beach, they saw them smoking and seized one part-smoked marijuana joint weighing 0.10661 grams and one pack of marijuana wrapped in brown paper weighing 0.86211 grams.
