n the midst of the standoff between the National Police and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo once again held a meeting with all regents and mayors in the country at the Bogor Palace, West Java, on Thursday morning.
Jokowi held a similar meeting last week.
'Meetings like this, with mayors and regents from across the country can be held not only once a year but also twice, or three times a year,' President Jokowi said last week.
Jokowi said the meeting with 416 regents and 98 mayors was aimed at strengthening consolidation of bureaucracy in a vast nation such as Indonesia.
During his meeting in December last year with the country's governors, regents and mayors, Jokowi unveiled his plans to boost domestic production, spur growth and improve the fiscal balance to levels that Indonesia has not seen in decades.
