Two more bodies recovered in West, South Sulawesi waters

T

he National Search and Rescue Agency has recovered two more victims of the crashed AirAsia flight QZ8501 from South and West Sulawesi waters on Friday.

One incomplete body was found in Banggae waters in Majene, West Sulawesi and another one was found in Pinrang waters in South Sulawesi.

The coordinator of the SAR team in West Sulawesi, Muhammad Rizal, said the deceased found in Banggae was sent directly to the Majene Regional Hospital, while the other one was sent to the Lasindrang Regional Hospital in Pinrang before being transported to Surabaya for identification and autopsy.

So far, a total of six dead victims of the ill-fated aircraft have been recovered on waters in the two provinces, which are located at least 800 kilometers from the crash site on the Karimata Strait in Central Kalimantan, and all were badly damaged.

The bodies were assumed to have been dragged the distance by strong ocean currents.

The head of the SAR team in Makassar, Deden Ridwansyah, confirmed that five of the six bodies were recovered in Majene and the remaining one was found in Pinrang.

'€œTwo have been sent to Surabaya; four others are waiting for transportation,'€ he said as quoted by tempo.co.

Besides recovering the victims, the SAR team in cooperation with local fishermen also found a number of goods belonging to the airplane'€™s passengers and small part of the plane'€™s wreckage. (rms)(++++)
