Housed in a dry, green and comfortable part of Jakarta, I cannot help feel the pain and strain of my fellow Jakarta citizens who always get inundated when lots of water comes a-raining.
If and when there is a way to absorb and keep this excess rainwater ' including the flooding of our 13 rivers continuously pouring into this basin of a city ' we can expect an artificial lake (or bay) to be used by the people of Jakarta for various trade activities.
There are two different choices of changing Jakarta into a better city to live in; one is the above-mentioned Batavia Lake City development.
The other is the establishment of artificial lakes on dry lands, into which all these rivers and rainwater could flow as a precious water commodity for the dry season. Placing lots of ikan gabus (snakehead fish) into the artificial lake will make the water desirable for almost all kinds of plants (as shown by the research of Dr. Fadel Muhammad).
The water can be distributed to t nearby provinces by gravity or the use of the power of windmills and the sun.
The flow of the rainwater and river water into the reservoir shall be similarly powered: by windmills and the eternal sun.
This is really a big challenge to our leaders assigned to care for this ever flood-prone Jakarta: a challenge to all who are willing to care and share!
Let us voluntarily help Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama save the people from the inherent discomfort of the wet and inundated capital city.
Before flooding the city, rainwater is to be collected for pumping to huge tanks. The floodwater sucked into the huge reservoir tanks shall be continually allowed to flow gravitationally to neighboring watertanks in neighboring cities, where water is badly needed during the dry season.
This and other forms of better demographic planning could rescue this city from its fate.
