The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained Sutan Bhatoegana, the former head of the House of Representatives'€™ Commission VII overseeing energy, in Jakarta on Monday evening after a nine-hour questioning session.

Sutan exited the KPK building at 6:50 p.m. wearing the orange vest specially designed for KPK detainees.

'€œI am following the procedures. As to whether I am guilty or not, let'€™s wait for the trial,'€ Sutan told journalists who had been waiting since morning. Sutan was accused of accepting bribes in return for expediting the deliberation of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry'€™s budget for the 2012-2013 period.

He made headlines in January last year when his name was mentioned at the graft trial of former Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKKMigas) head Rudi Rubiandini.

Your comment:

Good job KPK. Let'€™s hope this will be the trigger to catch another corrupter, and let'€™s hope Sutan Bhatoegana cooperates with the KPK to hunt others like him.

Long live Indonesia! Keep it up! It'€™s all about change and better governance. Of course it'€™s bitter to swallow '€” good medicine is never sweet!

Let'€™s see who ends up going to jail next knowing that all their assets will be confiscated by the government.

Being in jail and knowing their assets are to be taken is the bitterest pill for a corrupt person to swallow. It should be painful, and there should be lengthy prison terms for these parasites on society.

It should also be police Comr. Gen. Budi G.! Oops, that'€™s right, he'€™s above the law.
