Your comments on the decision made by the Constitutional Court to revoke a law that had allowed the private sector to monopolize water resources, a move meant to maintain access to clean water for all citizens:
It is very good and about time!

No doubt there are flaws in the law issued in 2004, but the law should be corrected and not abolished.
Now, by going back to a 1974 law, it is like going back to an even poorer legal situation and it will cause more misery than improvements.
Taco Macaco de Vries
Provide potable water for all citizens ' then and only then does it not matter if the private sector owns any number of water sources.

We have an abundance of water, especially Jakarta during the rainy season. Our closeness to seawater (being an archipelago) means easy access to water, too.
The extraction of drinkable water from the sea is but the same as that from the dirty city floodwater.
Yet for psychological reasons the extraction of water through the evaporation of seawater looks more sensible if not acceptable. Yet, it is actually the same.
The availability of sunshine the whole day long makes it convenient to extract drinking water from the sea; the byproduct of which is kitchen salt (when properly added to iodine).
The purification of rainwater from our roofs is easily derivable to drinking water.
This reminds me of what the superintendent during my seven years of Dutch elementary school used to say, that the Dutch East Indies was indeed heaven on earth. The ingenuity of the people is tested to survive in this easy-to-live-in part of the world.
