Rupiah opens at Rp 12,852 per dollar on Friday

he rupiah interbank trade rate in Jakarta appreciated slightly on Friday morning by 16 basis points to Rp 12,852 per US dollar from Rp 12,868 per dollar in the earlier trade.
'The flow of foreign capital entering the domestic market has helped the rupiah to stay on an upward trend this morning,' Bank Himpunan Saudara analyst Rully Nova said as quoted by Antara news agency.
Rully said that investors were optimistic that the Indonesian economy would continue to be healthy in the future as they saw the government making efforts to anticipate a projected global economic slowdown.
'The domestic economy is pretty stable, thus the market players are still optimistic that risky assets will generate good yields,' he explained.
He added that the rupiah would further appreciate next week if macroeconomic data announced by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) on Monday was as good as market players predicted. (nfo)
