The Central Kalimantan regional administration has said the province still has 300 villages categorized as underdeveloped.
The provincial administration, therefore, needed to work harder to improve the villages, head of the Program for Rural Development Eteri Herano said on Friday.
'There are 300 villages, or 21 percent of the 1,428 villages in the province, Eteri said .
The program launched in 2006 by Governor Agustin Teras Narang was expected to be breakthrough in rural development.
Implementation of the program began only in 2008. It was first implemented in the village of Tumbang Terusan in the district of Tewang Sanggalang.
'This year might be the last year of the implementation of the program as the governor will end his term of office in August. We hope the next governor will continue the program,' Eteri said.
In addition to the 300 villages there were three villages classed as extremely underdeveloped in Murung Raya, he said.
