Your letters: We have no right to show outrage

I

am Australian and I must apologize for those we have in charge of our country. I am a voter, so must share the blame with all of my countrymen.

As a country we have no right to show moral outrage at your country for using the death penalty. We have concentration camps thousands of kilometers from our shore to hold people who dare to flee oppression, war and famine.

I use Twitter a lot and love Indonesians offering coins to my person in charge. I contacted your President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo on Twitter, suggesting that as you hate our concentration camps as much as we hate your death penalty, why not swap? We close the concentration camps and you stop the death penalty.

Would your readers consider that a fair swap?

As for the gift given after the tsunami: it was a gift and given freely by every Australian without strings. Our PM has put the strings on it, not us.
