While outside Java, Madura and Bali, the price will increase from Rp 6,600 to Rp 6,800; subsidized kerosene and diesel prices would be kept steady at Rp 2,500 and Rp 6,400 per liter respectively, the ministry said.
Spokesman Saleh Abdurrahman said that global fuel prices significantly increased in February to between US$62 and $74 per gallon of gasoline and $55 and $70 per gallon of diesel.
'The government only raised the price of Premium to maintain economic stability,' Saleh said on Saturday, as quoted by Antara.
Although President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo raised the price of Premium to Rp 8,500 per liter in November; prices were lowered to Rp 7,600 in January.
In February, the price was then lowered to Rp 6,700 for Java, Madura and to Rp 6,600 for areas outside the three main distribution areas to adjust to falling international prices.
