A ferryboat overturned and sank in Jeneberang River, Gowa regency, South Sulawesi, killing three passengers. As many as 21 passengers survived when the ferryboat capsized and sank in the river on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. local time.
Your comments:
The boat was unlicensed, unregulated, unsuitable and not fit for purpose. There are only two bridges across the river near the city. Development on both sides is essentially an unplanned free-for-all. Residents are forced to take risks like this because of the seeming inability of the Makassar City and Gowa regencies to coordinate and provide better access. As far as I can see, adequate road access is about the last consideration that any of the so called local developers make.
