The rupiah was the worst performer in the Asian currency market on Tuesday as it plunged to its lowest level in six years amid fears that the US central bank would raise its interest rate.
Your comments:
I can't agree with the analysis from the experts. Our bank lending rate of dollars is 7.5 percent but the deposit rate is below 2 percent. The rupiah also has a large spread. How can the economy recover given this and a high lending rate?
Many companies will suffer and default on their loans. The businessmen would rather put more money in the bank than invest. Meanwhile, investors would rather place their money abroad due to better interest rates.
Also, with the ailing economy and weak spending power, how do you expect our domestic market to support our economy? Programs taken forward by the Social Security Management Agency (BPJS) sound good, but I think they suck up a lot of money.

Do businesses or investors look at Indonesia when it portrays a bad image to the world?
The value of rupiah will just keep going down.

Sentiment also enters the picture. The declining image of Indonesia due to a poor image brought about by its own needless provocations will take a toll. These do not give investors any positive feelings about the country.
