Basuki Tjahaja Purnama
Your comments on the prolonged dispute between Jakarta Governor Basuki
'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama and the City Council as the council wants to
investigate the alleged irregularity of the city administration for
submitting a draft budget to the Home Ministry without the signatures of
the council's leaders:
The dispute is not bad if it is to improve the old system, which was outright corrupt in all purposes.
The insistence of Ahok and the meddling of the councilors will eventually come out into the proper public view for proper and balanced correction.
This is what we expect during this transitional period between the habits of the past almost seven decades and the new, progressive, honest government.
More of these transitional administration changes shall take place to the surprise of rule- (old rule!) abiding citizens.
Rest assured the people (our people) who have been patient are more patient now with the guidance of an equally patient leader.
Together let us face the future hand-in-hand to cope with the 'unintentional' obstacles left behind by past governments.

They hate Ahok just because Ahok is clean. He makes it difficult for them to be corrupt.

Just go ahead, Ahok. Don't retreat. You are going the right direction. We all know what kind of people are in the council.

For Rp 6 billion they could have put in a 500 kW diesel generator plus enough fuel for a year.
Or they could have installed a solar power plant to power the school and the entire neighborhood with free sunshine.

I really feel for the guy. To get things done in management here requires vast reserves of patience and a very diplomatic approach, which driven and ambitious people such as Ahok seldom have. Sad as it is, he may need to lower his expectations. Anything more than a gradual change in the way things are done will only end up in this sort of mass protest.
Personally, I'm a fan. This country needs him, but it seems the councilors think otherwise (or more likely don't care a hoot for what the country needs).

I am beginning to like this Ahok, he cannot be bought for US$940 million. Honesty is a very exotic and rare characteristic in this republic.

To remove Ahok from his post would be a big mistake! But the people here are used to actions like this. Hey, people, wake up! Support Jokowi and Ahok. Most of you wanted them, anyway!
They are clean and (hopefully) want to do the best for Jakartans and Indonesians.
Jokowi has big problems, and as I have mentioned a long time ago, he probably does not have the best advisors.

Ahok likes publicity. Although I do not really trust the councilors, it is too much to rely on Ahok to see Jakarta reformed.
Ahok is just doing another thing to promote his image. He has not done much for Jakarta. He is just another good actor that we are already bored of. We need to see change on the ground, not in the air, and Jakarta has not changed much in this respect.
If you look at his policies and the reality on the ground, he hasn't achieved anything substantial. First, let's talk about traffic.
It seems he does not really know what he is doing to address the issues of congestion. He just made some superficial policies like banning motorcycles on Jl. Thamrin and busies himself with the ERP, talking non-sense about progressive car tax policy, and the 10 year limit on car age.

KPK gives up on Budi's graft case
The KPK has made a questionable move by handing over the corruption case of Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan to the Attorney General's Office (AGO), but according to Attorney General M. Prasetyo, his office will hand the case to police for early investigation. What do you think?
