Former Central Jakarta Education Agency head Zainal Soleman said Wednesday he had coordinated with former Jakarta Education Agency head Lasro Marbun to procure the controversial uninterruptible power systems (UPS) at a cost of Rp 5.8 billion (US$446,600) each. Lasro swiftly denied Zainal's statement.

Is it Rp 8.1 million (US$622) for a battery? Does it have 24 carat gold-plated terminals? I replaced two batteries in a 2000VA UPS recently at a total of Rp 500,000 for them both. I also don't understand why they need the extra batteries. A UPS normally comes with them installed, or at least with the purchase of the UPS, installed by the technician if needed. They are simply making excuses to try and pretend that this was not corruption.
