Men'€™s doubles champions Ahsan and Hendraw lost to arch-rivals Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan of China 21-16, 19-21, 21-18 in Birmingham, England, on Thursday, according to tournamentsoftware.com.

Tontowi and Liliyana had an easy job eliminating Sol Kyu Choi and Yoo Jung Chae of South Korea 21-12, 21-7.

In the men'€™s singles, Simon Santoso also had to exit early in the preliminary round. So did mixed doubles Riky Widianto and Richi Puspita Dili and women'€™s singles Linda Wenifanetri and Bellaetrix Manuputty.

Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka became Indonesia'€™s only representative in the men'€™s singles after he dispatched teammate Tommy Sugiarto.
