urabaya city has won three awards from the Home Ministry's 2014 Urban Management Innovation awards, namely for green zones and waste and drainage management.
The gongs were awarded by Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo to mayor Tri Rismaharini at the Surabaya City Hall on Thursday.
The mayor, popularly known as Risma, was thankful for the recognition, saying said she learned a lot about city management from the ministry's course. 'I know how to do my job from the training I had from the ministry's regional development directorate general,' she said.
Risma, who has attracted national and international attention for energetically promoting her social, economic and environmental policies in Surabaya, was recently named the second runner-up in a list of the top 10 most outstanding mayors in the World Mayor Project.
