ourists from the Netherlands, who have shown increasing interest in Yogyakarta's history, are considered a market with great potential, according to the local Tourism and Culture Agency.
Agency chief Eko Suryo Maharso told Antara news agency that many Dutch tourists visited the agency's office to seek information about the buildings that were constructed during the Dutch occupation of Yogyakarta.
'They then visit these buildings to see their condition. For example, the buildings along Jl. Sudirman, in Kotabaru, and Tegalpanggung Elementary School,' Eko said.
Some 2.7 million tourists visited Yogyakarta in 2013, and the number increased to three million in 2014. In 2015, the agency aims to record even more domestic and foreign tourist visits.
