The classic Disney movies have kept children ' and some adults ' dreaming for almost a century.
'Every day ' from when I was a kid until now ' has been a Disney day for me,' self-confessed Disney freak Sandra Dewi said to The Jakarta Post during a recent interview.
Sandra Dewi was the only Indonesian chosen to take part in a photo shoot in January for a Disney calendar, transforming herself into a glamorous Cinderella ' the most famous and iconic character of them all and, rumor has it, Walt Disney's favorite.
Sandra Dewi, wearing a blue Cinderella outfit, shines when she talks about the project.
'I love princesses and I love Disney. I go to Disneyland three times a year now. This is my dream job. I love all princesses, especially Cinderella.'
The project included nine celebrities from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand, all of whom were reimagined as Disney princesses.
After the calendar, Disney asked her to become a Disney ambassador. Sandra Dewi is excited about the collaboration. 'I absolutely love Disney movies; they have always inspired me. If you can dream it, you can do it ' that's what we can learn from all Disney movies. You need to have a dream, a purpose in life, then you can be what you dream.'
Sandra Dewi also sees similarities between herself and Cinderella: 'Cinderella worked hard, she found a Prince Charming and lived happily ever after. So did I! I came from a small island and became a successful career woman. I was a nobody, now everybody knows me. I'm an actress, an entrepreneur and a businesswoman.'
As well as modeling, acting and TV hosting, she is the director of a property company and a brand ambassador. 'I love all my jobs. I have a manager to schedule all of it. I go to work happy every day,' she says 'But it's not easy to be like me. I have to work hard every day. Everything is hard for me. That's why they chose me to be Cinderella.'
Yet there is more for her to dream of, as Sandra Dewi hints of wedding bells. 'Now my dream is to be a Disney princess, and the next is a Disney wedding ' I have been dreaming of that since I was a kid. Now I've found my Prince Charming, so maybe soon it will happen.'
