Text your say: 16 Indonesians detained in Turkey

Retno LP Marsudi. JP/Awo

Your comments on Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi'€™s statement that the 16 Indonesians detained after attempting to cross the Turkish border into Syria were allegedly trying to join the Islamic State (IS) movement:

A group of 16 persons should not be too difficult to detect; if and only if our government was sensitive enough to realize that such activity is expected.

All existing religions in this nation must respect Pancasila as any and all government officials are sworn in under the banner of Pancasila.

This groups of 16 Indonesians are indeed victims of our not being clear in our adherence to Pancasila.

This is a very good lesson for us all about not being conscious about the importance of the adherence to Pancasila.

More serious similar cases will happen, again and again, if we do not start indoctrinating our people on Pancasila; the way our forerunners wanted it to be.

Clearly zero mercy should be given to these people. They need life imprisonment for treason, joining a banned group and wanting to cause premeditated murder.

Why not let them go? But don'€™t allow them back, of course.

If they have already spent all their money from the sale of their possessions then it'€™s a non-argument. They will have the same amount wherever they go. It won'€™t be caused by them being brought back to Indonesia.

More likely Indonesia doesn'€™t want them back and this was the best argument that National Intelligence Agency (BIN) chief Marciano could come up with.
