tate prosecutors have demanded that a 16-year-old member of the so-called Hello Kitty gang serve four years in prison for allegedly kidnapping and torturing a 18-year-old high-school student.
During the trial on Monday at the Bantul District Court in Yogyakarta, prosecutor Heradiyan Salipi said the defendant was guilty of violating of the Criminal Code Article 351 on torture and Article 333 on kidnapping.
'Because the defendant is underage, in accordance with underage trial procedures, we demand half the maximum sentence carried by the articles,' Heradiyan said.
The accused, along with eight female gang members, allegedly kidnapped and tortured the high-school student for having a similar Hello Kitty tattoo at a rented house in Saman hamlet, Bangunharjo village, Bantul on Feb. 17.
The police are still looking for four other perpetrators believed to be hiding in two cities in Central Java.
