efending champions WISCI Wanderers have proved that they are still very much a force to be reckoned with, despite some lackluster performances in the league stage, easily triumphing over Emerio by five wickets at Cibubur. Emerio must have regretted its decision to bat first as WISCI skipper William Noronha ripped through its top order to have it in all sorts of trouble at 47 for four after 12 overs. It never recovered from this position and was bowled out for just 95 in 30.3 overs, with none of its batsmen managing to notch up more than 20. Noronha finished with five-23, ably supported by Rajiv Rajeswaran (three-13). Sensing rain, WISCI set boldly about the task at hand and, despite losing wickets on the way, reached the target in just 15.5 overs. Gaurav Tiwari (35 not out) and JP Le Riche (29) starred with the bat. David Surjit (three-32) and Vijay Krishnan (two-38) were the pick of the Emerio bowlers.
Over at GMIS, Indorama stayed in contention to play in Division 1 next season with an eight-wicket thrashing of Ceylon. Electing to bat first, Ceylon got off to a good start and was well placed at 61 for one in 11.3 overs before Indorama pulled things back to bowl Ceylon out for 164 in 33.1 overs. Mukesh Khetan top-scored with 48 and skipper Gaurav Kapoor made 33. Arjun Chauhan (four-28), Ashish Khaitan (three-15) and the evergreen R. Srikkanth (two-26) were the chief destroyers for Indorama. Indorama required just 27.3 overs to overhaul the target as they galloped to 165 for two on the back of fine unbeaten knocks from Sandeep Boora (64) and Arjun Chauhan (31).
Saturday's Division 2 ranking game between Metro Indians and Mavecrics Menarians did not take place, Metro Indians forfeiting the game.
