School and university students joined with the Semarang chapters of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) wing organizations, namely the Indonesian Islamic Students Movement (PMII), the NU Students Association (IPNU) and the NU Female Students Association (IPPNU), to stage a rally against the Islamic State (IS) militant group on Sunday.

The demonstrators made speeches and spread out banners emblazoned with messages showing their rejection of IS in the rally held at Bundaran Air Mancur on Jl. Pahlawan in Semarang, Central Java.

Your comments:

NU students reject IS. Is this for real or just NATO (no action talk only)?

Animi

This is a change that the whole world wants to see. I hope more people reject these death cults.

It is certainly a good move by the youths there.

Let'€™s support this student movement. I always crave an Islam that is peaceful and full of compassion. Islam is not a fantasy of people who always want war and blood.

The Prophet would be sad to see his people suffer like this. Islamic Indonesia rise!

Taufiq Anas

Well done! As long as the young generation rejects this kind of brutal fascism, there is hope.

Deedee S.

It is impressive. Now condemn all those who utilize Islam to perpetuate violence and wrest power and steal. Unfortunately, it took the rise in power of IS of which its members'€™ brutality has even scared other Islamic organizations.
