able television firm PT Media Nusantara Cipta (MNC) Sky Vision claims it suffered losses of up to Rp 14 billion (US$1 million) from the broadcast of HBO, AXN and HBO Hits channels without MNC's permission, believed to have been carried out by PT Bukadri Vision (BKV) up to 2012.
'It is an estimation, because had BKV not committed the violation, we would have received subscribers,' MNC vice managing director Handhianto S. Kentjono told a panel of judges at the Balikpapan District Court in East Kalimantan on Wednesday.
Kentjono, who attended the trial as a witness, was questioned by prosecutor Fajar. The trial implicated BKV managing director Rachmansyah Kadri as the defendant in the criminal case. Kadri has not been detained.
Kentjono said his company had exclusive rights to air the channels.
The East Kalimantan Police named Rachmansyah a suspect on Sept. 4, 2014 and charged him with violating Law No. 19/2001 on intellectual rights, which carries a five-year prison sentence.
