State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) has obtained Rp 1
tate-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) has obtained Rp 1.5 trillion (US$115.5 million) worth of financing from the Export Financing Agency (LPEI), or more popularly known as Indonesia Eximbank.
APII president director Budi Karya Sumadi said the financing facility was projected to fund the expansion of airports in AP II's working areas, especially Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
Budi said the financing plan was obtained by a loan agreement that he and Indonesia Eximbank executive director Ngalim Sawega had signed.
He said the expansions funded via the cooperation between AP II and Indonesia Eximbank aimed to balance the airports' work performances and the national aviation industry's developments, which were quite significant.
Budi said AP II aimed to develop almost all airports in its working areas, but around 70 percent would be focused on the expansion of Soekarno-Hatta, which may need at least Rp 26 trillion worth of financing for 2007-2020.
He said that at Soekarno-Hatta, AP II was developing Terminal 3 Ultimate with a capacity of 25 million passengers per year. It also planned to upgrade Terminal 1 and 2 so they would have a capacity of 18 million passengers per year each.
Budi added that AP II was also working on the construction projects of Soekarno-Hatta's airport railway and integrated buildings, comprising commercial areas, parking lots, office buildings and hotels.
'We will develop the airports not only physically but also in terms of services to users. They could be so called 'smile airports' in which consumers will get quality services,' said Budi. (ebf)(++++)
