he North Sulawesi Maritime Police have arrested three Philippine-flagged ships, along with 25 crew members, that were fishing in waters near Marore Island, Sangihe regency.
The police's ship patrol commander Adj. Comr. Zuhdi Ghozali said on Tuesday that the police also confiscated dozens of pieces of fishing equipment as well as tuna from the ship. Zuhdi said the ships were netted on Monday while fishing near numerous fish cages that were installed by local fishermen in the border area between Indonesia and the Philippines.
'They have entered Indonesian areas when they were fishing,' he added.
He said the police would need interpreters during the questioning as none of the crew members spoke Indonesian.
