elegates of Asian and African countries participating in the upcoming commemoration of the 60th Asia Africa Conference in Bandung, West Java, later this month, will be offered to take the Argo Parahyangan train as an alternative mode of transportation, besides aircraft and buses, to the event'€™s venue from Jakarta and other cities.

Spokesman for state-owned train company PT KAI Zunerfin said in Bandung on Thursday that the conference'€™s VVIP delegates would use air transportation but the company would also provide a special train to transport other delegates.

'€œWe will prepare the Argo Parahyangan train to transport other delegates. However, we are prepared to provide VVIP cars to transport state leaders wanting to ride the train to the venue,'€ he said as quoted by Antara news agency.

According to him, it would take three hours to ride from Jakarta-Bandung on the train, an experience that would give passengers a scenic view of West Java.

'€œWe have prepared the north corridor at Bandung Station for Asia Africa Conference delegates. We are still waiting for confirmation on delegates wanting to use the special train,'€ he said.

The two-day event, to be held on April 19-24, will take place at the Gedung Sate building on Jl. Asia-Africa in Bandung, with the attendance of more than 100 world leaders from the two continents.

Foreign Minister Retno L.P Marsudi, who is currently attending the African Union Conference in Malaysia, said recently that she would hand deliver Asia Africa Conference invitations to leaders of African countries attending the meeting in Malaysia. (rms)
