Gorontalo Governor Rusli Habibie recently proposed to the central government to form a special team to deal with issues relating to Lake Limboto.

In the dry season, the lake dries up and fishermen face difficulties catching fish, while during the rainy season, floods occur in residential areas,

According to Rusli, the team could serve every ministry or relevant institution to revitalize the lake.

'€œI have conveyed the concept to President Joko [Jokowi] Widodo and he gave his approval. He said he would call several ministers regarding the matter,'€ Rusli claimed.

As part of efforts to revitalize the lake, the Public Works Ministry has carried out dredging.

The lake faces many issues, including land disputes, environmental conditions in the upstream and the need for better agriculture and tourism management. The lake is one of 15 lakes in the country deemed to be in critical condition.
