n conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference, the city will not be holding the regular Car Free Day (CFD) event on April 19.

The head of the Transportation Agency'€™s Traffic and Transportation Education and dissemination unit, Yayat Sudrajat, said Wednesday that Jl. Sudirman to Jl. MH Thamrin in Central Jakarta '€” where the CFD was usually held '€” would be open for automobile traffic on the designated date with no road closure,

'€œThis policy is aimed at ensuring the conference'€™s security and success,'€ he said.

Yayat said people who still want to exercise on April 9 should move their activities to the National Monument (Monas) area or Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan, both of which are in Central Jakarta.

He said the CFD will be held as usual after the conference is over.

The Asian-African Conference Commemoration (AACC) is to be held on April 19 to April 24 in Jakarta and Bandung, West Java.

Foreign Ministry records show that official representatives of 57 countries have confirmed their attendance at the first five days of the event in Jakarta. Meanwhile, no less than 20 heads of state have confirmed their attendance at the summit'€™s events in Jakarta and for the AACC'€™s historical visits in Bandung on April 24.
