n response to The Jakarta Post article titled 'Jokowi to Extradite Singaporean to US', which appeared on April 14, we would like to clarify that the Singaporean Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has not been officially notified of Indonesia's decision to extradite Mr. Lim Yong Nam to the US. The Indonesian authorities had earlier informed us that the extradition request will be heard in open court before a decision is made.
The MFA has reiterated on several occasions to the Indonesian government to accord Mr. Lim his due legal rights and privileges under Indonesian law.
The MFA will continue to take up this matter with the relevant Indonesian government bodies and monitor Mr. Lim's case closely. The MFA will also continue to render consular assistance to Mr. Lim and his family as we have been doing throughout his detention in Batam.
