AKARTA: Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said that he would order the Education Agency to demote Retno Listyarti from her position as principal of South Jakarta public senior high school SMA 3.
Early on Tuesday, on the second day of the national exams for senior high school students, Retno appeared on a local television channel to discuss the exams as the secretary-general of the Federation of Indonesian Teachers Associations (FSGI).
'This shows that she is more concerned with her position in that organization than in the school,' Ahok said at City Hall on Friday.
Retno has denied that she was filmed for the television show during school hours and instead said that her segment was shot before the exams started. She said that she had been in SMA 3 when the exams began.
