AKARTA: Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) legislator Adriansyah, who was recently caught accepting a Rp 500 million (US$39,000) bribe from a businessman in Bali, admitted that it was not the first time he had accepted money from the company.

After being interrogated for seven hours at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) building on Thursday, he said he was paid the money as a gratuity in connection with a mining project in Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan.

'€œYes, it is not the first time,'€ he said as quoted by kompas.com.

The KPK recently alleged that the suspect accepted money several times from the company'€™s owner, Andrew Hidayat.

Adriansyah, also a former regent of Tanah Laut, was caught by the KPK accepting money from a Gambir Police officer at a hotel in Sanur, Bali, on April 16. Following that, Andrew was also arrested in Senayan, South Jakarta. The police officer was later released for unspecified reasons.

KPK investigators also confiscated Singaporean dollars and rupiah worth a total of Rp 500 million.
