he country's recent gemstone craze has promptedPasar Segar in Depok, West Java, to open a new space for gemstone traders inthe market.
Zainuddin, a gemstone enthusiast, said Sunday the move had been initiated by the Depok Pandan online gemstone community.
'I hope the gemstone space in Pasar Segar can develop into a gemstone center, one that can become a destination for people seeking gemstones,' he said as quoted by kompas.com, adding the Depok Pandan gemstone community was 2,700 members strong.
Yudi Handana, a gemstone seller, said that since the craze hit the city, he could earn between Rp 500,000 (US$39) and Rp 1 million per day.
'I have plans to open a number of gemstone stores in Ciledug and Bintaro [Tangerang],' he said.
