The National Police have given the green light for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to investigate the alleged involvement of a Jakarta-based police officer in a high-profile bribery case involving ruling Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Adriansyah.
Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said the National Police appreciated the KPK for not charging Brig. Agung Krisdianto after he underwent intensive questioning at KPK headquarters on Friday night, but the police would have no problem should the KPK wish to continue its investigation of Agung at a later date.
'We respect the ongoing investigation at the KPK,' Rikwanto told The Jakarta Post on Sunday when asked about whether the National Police would allow the KPK to collect more evidence to charge Agung, adding that Agung's status remained as a witness in the case.
Your comments:
The KPK and the National Police are both in the same bed with the political elite, like brothers and sisters who will do everything to protect themselves.
Saying that these guys are a bunch of losers is actually being too kind. There really are no words that can be published in a newspaper to describe these lowlife losers who scrape the bottom of the barrel of human life.

The reason the KPK was created was because Indonesia's courts, police force and politicians were so corrupt that graft convicts were few and far between.
The Indonesian court system had failed to try Soeharto, who is rated by the UN as the most corrupt man of the 20th century, having stolen US$35 billion in his time in office ($63 billion in today's money).
Yet we now return to a pathetic situation where the KPK needs the police force's ''approval'' to investigate police officers. In short, the KPK has been recaptured by the corrupt institutions of Indonesia's failing republic.

The KPK was created because Indonesia was almost bankrupt and needed money from the IMF.
The IMF asked that Indonesia create an anticorruption organization in return. Although Megawati was not happy with it, she had to create it during her time in office.

The KPK needs to immediately clarify that it appreciates the police's support, but that it does not require any police approval for its investigation.

Who will be the next members of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) elite caught red-handed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) accepting bribes or practicing dirty business or corruption in the era of Jokowi?
This would be really embarrassing if done by the elite party members that supported Jokowi and Kalla.

I don't think I can read much more of this. It's painful to see a country I once had such strong feelings for getting sicker and sicker by the day.

Seriously, I really believe the vast majority of Indonesian politicians are essentially like a time-bomb when it comes to the corruption. It's been so chronic that the very definition of corruption is severely twisted.
If we go back to the simplest definition of corruption in the Oxford dictionary, perhaps the entire nation will be paralyzed due to the mass suspension of corruptors in parliament, state-owned enterprises, courts, law enforcement and so on. Come on, it's been almost 17 years since we had the 'painful awakening'.
Are we still 'asleep'?
