Greater Jakarta: Management dismisses resident meeting

D

ozens of security officers forcibly dismissed a meeting held by roughly 100 residents of Kalibata City Apartments at the complex'€™s Jasmine Tower in South Jakarta on Saturday.

Resident spokesperson Umi Hanik said the meeting was aimed at establishing a tenants and owners association (P3SRS), which would be tasked with supervising management policies.

'€œWe hope a resident-managed association will be able to solve the resident'€™s problems,'€ she said as quoted by kompas.com.

The general manager of Kalibata City Apartments, Evans Wallad, said the meeting was held illegally, as residents had submitted a notification letter, not a request to use the room. He said management had formed a temporary committee on March 5 consisting of residents in the apartment to help find solutions.
