Indonesian flag carrier Garuda has been eyeing potential Saudi Arabian tourists, who have been increasing significantly in number.
In cooperation with the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, the state-owned airline company took part in the Riyadh Travel Fair 2015 tourism exhibition to attract tourists to visit Indonesia, said spokesman for the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, Ahrul Tsani Fathurrahman.
He said that Garuda's participation in the exhibition was deemed important to give Saudi Arabian people detailed information on tourism in Indonesia.
The number of tourists from the kingdom to Indonesia increased by 25 percent to 147,000 in 2014 from 117,000 in 2013.
'The number of tourists is expected to rise significantly in the next few years,' he said.
Besides visiting Bali, Lombok and other tourist destinations in Indonesia, many Saudi Arabian tourists also visited West Java and made contract-based marriages with locals in Cisarua, Bogor and Cianjur.
According to Saudi Arabian statistics, around four million Saudis traveled to a range of countries in 2014 and spent 24 billion riyals (US$6.4 billion). (rms)(++++)
